Pioneering The Future Of Cruising at IMEX Frankfurt

What can you do for the ship that has everything? How do you elevate an experience @ sea? Shawn M Sawyer President & Creative Director of Cacique sister company Events Design @ Sea explains why he is so passionate about this topic and grateful for the opportunity to talk about a paradigm shift for the cruise industry:

What an exciting time for the cruise industry as we re-imagine the cruise as a destination experience! From meetings, conferences and tailor-made events of all types and sizes, we’re on a mission to “elevate” experiences @ sea with style, decor and entertainment.

This is the ultimate ocean-going incentive trip, a tailor-made treat for the senses – inspiring top performers to keep pushing personal & company horizons back in the real world.

THE GLORY DAYS

There was a time when cruising was exclusively for the glamorous jet-set. These "glory days" of cruising generally refer to the period between the 1920s and the 1960s when ocean liners were the primary mode of international travel. During this time, cruising was seen as a luxurious and prestigious way to see the world, and passengers dressed in their finest clothing and participated in a wide range of “sophisticated” activities onboard.

CRUISING TODAY

The modern age of cruising began in the 1970s when the concept of the "fun ship" was introduced by Carnival Cruise Lines. This marked a shift away from the traditional image of cruising as a luxurious and formal experience and towards a more casual and fun-oriented approach.

Since then, the cruise industry has grown rapidly, and modern cruise ships offer a wide range of amenities and activities to suit all tastes and budgets. Today's cruise ships are like floating cities, with features such as water parks, casinos, cinemas, shopping malls, and even ice skating rinks.

ELEVATING EXPERIENCES @ SEA

Ok, so your ship has everything –amazing restaurants, bars, pools, slides, theatres, casinos and maybe even an ice rink. But what if you want something a little … more?

Events Design @ Sea is bringing back the glamour & prestige of the bygone era of travel. From incentive trips to meetings, conferences and tailormade events of all sizes, EDS is on a mission to elevate experiences @ sea with style, decor & entertainment.
